Recovery after Childbirth with Hypopressives
¿Hiccup… what?
How many times have we heard this question over the last few years, those of us who work in the postpartum period!. Luckily every day it is more recommended and normalized.
I’m sure many of you have heard of Hypopressives.
What are they?
Hypopressives are postural and breathing exercises that involve most of the muscles of our body while reducing intra-abdominal pressure. With two simultaneous jobs: postural training and respiratory training.
It is a simple method and you only need comfortable clothes: “They are very repetitive techniques, once learned they can be done at home, although it is always better to do them with a monitor because it favors motivation and corrects postures.”
Hypopressive exercises, are performed in expiratory apnea and in postures that facilitate postural traction of the diaphragm. This lowers intra-abdominal pressure, raises the internal organs and activates the abdominal girdle and perineal muscles. What do you mean? That you will not only see results externally, but also internally. With hypopressives you work from within, so, despite the sudden changes that our body undergoes during pregnancy, everything returns to its being.
To get an idea of the importance that pressures have in our body, let’s imagine that the abdominal cavity is like a balloon. A balloon whose upper part is the diaphragm, its back is the back, the lower part is the pelvic floor and the front part is the abdomen. That balloon can deform, we can crush it in one of its parts or in several parts and like a balloon any deformation in one of its parts affects all the others. But our body is not a balloon (the same in all its parts), but the upper and back (powerful muscle and bone) are infinitely more resistant structures than the others, thinner and whose composition is weaker. That is why the worst pathologies usually occur there.
They are recommended for anyone, from postpartum to the elderly, men, women and all those who want to enjoy a healthy workout that avoids internal hyper-pressures. Changes are perceived from the first month of practice, especially in cases of recovery of the abdomen and perineum after giving birth and in the decrease in urine leakage that, unfortunately, is very common in women after childbirth.
Do Hypopressives really work?
Physical exercise to really cause some result or benefit has only one secret: Perseverance.
With hypopressives, practically the same thing happens, if they are practiced regularly following the protocols determined by the trainer they will give very good results. For example, with two days a week twenty minutes of training in the first month you can already start to see changes in your posture, flexibility and even waist circumference.
It is important when you want to start a physical exercise program and specifically hypopressive physical exercise, to follow the supervision of this professional.
