AESVI, Spanish Alliance for Children’s Road Safety, is born

This Monday, the Spanish Alliance for Children’s Road Safety (AESVI) was presented at the Congress, a forum made up of experts in the sector whose objective will be to improve the protection of children when travelling by road to reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries due to an accident.

Every day, 19 children suffer injuries as a result of a traffic accident in Spain. For this reason, it is necessary to raise awareness in society about the importance of carrying the protected child in their seat on all journeys. With this premise, and for the first time in Spain, manufacturers of child restraint systems, importers, automobile clubs, the DGT, the Catalan Traffic Service, the Basque Country Traffic Directorate, universities, paediatricians, emergency departments, the National Association of Midwives, consumers, CEAPA, the National Child Safety Association and the State security forces and bodies, They unite against a single objective: to improve road safety for children.

The Forum that makes up the Spanish Alliance for Children’s Road Safety, through its bodies and working groups representing all its members, assumes the real commitment to improving child safety, with the following objectives:

  • Improve the training of professionals in charge of the sale of child restraint devices through their technical training, as it is a safety system that requires specific training on risk and injury prevention.
  • Inform those responsible for the safety of minors through resources aimed at improving their knowledge of child protection.
  • Research and promote technical studies that improve safety and reduce the risk of children in vehicles, with the collaboration of entities of recognized prestige in the field.
  • Carry out informative awareness campaigns on the need to carry children properly protected in the vehicle.

The day, closed by the president of the Congress, Ana Pastor, concluded with the signing of the statutes by all the members of the alliance.
